Space saver tyres - do they fit in the boot ok?

I've noticed space saver tyres can now be purchased for mark 3 and 3.5 models . It's a great improvement on that pathetic aerosol idea. However, the overall wheel and tyre diameter must be just over 24inches and having checked my boot size it seems to me to be a very tight squeeze to get one in. Has...

Adding an electric clock

I have a 1990 mx5 mk1 and wish to install an electric clock. Does anybody have any suggestions as to the best place to pick up a permanent 12v. supply? Is there a spare fuse somewhere in the interior fuse box? My manual doesn't mention one. Also what size fuse would be suitable? Thanks in advance fo...

Re: Hood repair Mk1 MX5

Very easy to remove the hood & frame together. 3 bolts holding the frame in place on each side & about 13 around the back of the hood under the rear deck carpet. Have a look at this guide http://www.cienega32.com/miata/nb2na/nb_2_na_top_xplant.htm Thanks for your advice. The procedure is pr...

Re: Hood repair Mk1 MX5

Do you mean rear plastic zipped window? Yes it would be far easier to repair removed from the roadster, it is easy enough to remove but it depends on the roof that has been fitted. M-m No, it's a glass rear window with a zip around 3 sides to facilitate the fold down. I thought all the soft tops we...

Hood repair Mk1 MX5

The zip around my rear glass window has broken. It seems to me it would be easier to repair with the hood removed from the car. Is this easy to do and how do I do it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Space saver spare wheel for MX5 Mk3

I heard that a space saver spare wheel from another make of car will fit a Mk3 MX5. Is this true and does anybody know what that make of car is? I don't like relying on these tyre inflation kits that are provided with modern cars. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Engine Cover removal - Mk 3

Thanks very much for your quick replies. I've just been and lifted the cover off following your advice and it came off fine. I now see the three clip points which hold it in place. As I thought, it's easy when you know how. Next thing to work out is how to remove the plugs so I may be back on the fo...

Engine Cover removal - Mk 3

How is the plastic engine cover removed from the engine of a Mk3, in order to remove the spark plugs? Does it just pull off and if so in which place(s) do I get hold of it? I can't see any obvious fixings but I'm reluctant to just pull it off in case I break it. Sorry if this sounds such a beginner'...

Mice are eating my Mazda

On my Mk3, the breather pipe running from the tappet cover to the air intake is covered by a soft foam pipe, rather like a piece of domestic pipe insulation. I noticed yesterday that this foam pipe looks like it has been nibbled by a mouse (or mice). I can't think of any other explanation for the da...

Re: New member introducing myself

Thanks for all your welcoming comments. I'd love to show you some pics but I'm not sure how to do it. When I try to send, I get a message to say the file's too big. I'll keep trying, but any ideas? Cheers, John

New member introducing myself

Hi, I'm John and have joined the forum after meeting Wayne at the Mazda OC stand at the Tatton Park Classic Car show last week. Nice to chat with you Wayne, and thanks for your advice on the day. I have two MX5's, both of which I have owned for about a year. These are a 1992 Eunos and a 2009 MK3 Roa...
