Re: Adrian Flux 50% price hike
I'm with Adrian Flux. Every year the renewal quote goes up. I use comparison sites, to get a better quote.
I then call Adrian Flux, and they price match the quote, well within a fiver or so.
I get the price I want, and I don't have to fill in lots of new company paperwork.

Re: Idiot with a Battery
Sorry if my post is confusing. What I meant to say is that 'smart' chargers often will not start charging if the battery is delivering less then say 4 volts. So you can connect the 'smart' charger to the battery, and it will not charge the battery. To get past this, you need to get the 'smart' charg...

Re: Idiot with a Battery
Hi, Be aware that 'smart' chargers will not often not charge a flat battery. They will need to be 'tricked' into starting to charge, by getting some voltage into the battery. This can be achieved by using a simple charger for a while first, or 'jump starting' the battery from another good battery, j...

Re: NB Head UNIT replacement.
Wayne, thanks for the reply. The head unit appears to be the correct size to be a drop in replacement for the nb unit. I've compared my unit with the dimensions in the advert. However it's meant to be a Volkswagen/Seat fitment. Does this matter? If I get a Mazda to ISO adapter, will it work? I can't...

NB Head UNIT replacement.
I'm looking for a replacement head unit for my 2004 Mazda MX5. I fancy an Android unit, with built in navigation, that'll fit neatly in the space of the original unit . There are many head units advertised, but they are all the wrong size, generally too small, so packing or similar would be needed. ...

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
The jack on the spanner worked. By the looks of things the bolt had rusted into the mounting, the treads look clean enough. https://c2.staticflickr.com/9/8316/29458760041_1b24d7503b_b.jpg I still had to remove the support behind the bolt, to get it out, and so release the alternator. :-) https://c2....

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
OK, the front is off. Only looked in one chassis rail up to now. I put a breaker bar in and banged it about, top bottom, left and right. Sounds the same in all places. The black stuff is underseal I sprayed in through one of the holes in the rail a couple of years ago. I missed the front, and a coup...

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
Well I tool the under tray off, mainly to inspect the chassis rails for rust. The chassis rails appear clear of rust. I hit the metal with a chisel, and scraped it back to bare metal in parts. A little surface rust in places, I've treated these areas, and I'll underseal the rails later. The power st...

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
Today I tried to take the alternator off. After taking off the air feed plastic from the airbox, and removing the alternator adjustment, and taking the belt off. I found the rear bold easily with a mirror http://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8194/29250303352_0b0c50d1dd_k.jpg I found it easy to get a 14mm sp...

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
After leaving the car for a while, the alternator seized again. It worked after I made it rotate with a spanner. Looking at the web, this appears to be a problem with MK2 alternators and lack of use. Damp causes the rotor and stator to rust together. Using it more often would help. :-) I'll replace ...

Re: change in alloy size affecting tyre size
I thought the 1.8 sport would only take 16" wheels, as anything smaller would foul the 'big brakes'.

Re: Alternator belt snapped.
I got the belts from Eurocarparts. It's now all done. I hope  It was simple enough, I just took it slowly. Slackened everything off, pushed the belts on, took up the slack, and re-tightened everything. The cross over pipe is a simple move and refit. I then left the engine running for 10 mins o...

Alternator belt snapped.
I started my MX5 today, the first time since September last year. It fired first time. The alternator light came on, and there was lots of squealing under the bonnet. I stopped the car and investigated. Under the bonnet where was smoke, and a snapped alternator belt. The alternator pulley was seized...
