Re: Mk1 restoration

Hi folks, Been a while since I posted, spent a long time with lots of :confusion-confused: head scratching as construction of the inner floor to sill has been a lot of trial and error. No parts available so a complete home fabrication. However with the worry of getting this wrong would undoubtably c...

Re: Mk1 restoration

Update on progress made. Door and rear bumper removed, typical issue with the 8 off 14mm bumper retaining bolts in that one started spinning (luckily the one of the bottom ones) and had to be cut off, and two snapped the retaining bolts due to corrosion. Door was less problematic. In between times, ...

Re: 1996 Uk spec Rebuild (we hope)

So been working on two different parts of the car. The first being to change out the Lamda sensor. The car's been running a bit rich, and I have a fault code indicating a Lamda fault. I have a spare replacement sensor so a simple job to swap out. Well that's what I thought yesterday. However, I ende...

Coolant Reservoir Clean

My OEM coolant reservoir had a nasty rust coloured stain all around the inside from twenty + years of service. Whilst this is just a surface coating on the inside of the plastic reservoir the reservoirs shape and small access make it almost impossible to clean effectively with a rag/bush. My solutio...

Re: My 91 us special BRG rolling resto

Hi, Just a thought/comment based on want I've been told re your water trap comment. You do need a a PROPER water tray, not just a cheap gun mounted water tray/filter. It's very easy to get moisture from the compressor into the air line and paint. The Paint then over time will 'micro blister' resulti...

Re: 1996 Uk spec Rebuild (we hope)

So been working on my 5's lighting. First job was to add an under bonnet light (just incase its needed un-expectantly on a cold dark night) So sourced a cheap LED DRL/strip from fleabay and feed the wires up through the bonnet bracing so not on show. Used a simple 'earth' push button switch on the e...
