Re: Phoenix's blue Arctic

She looks nice and tidy. Get under the front and get the under tray off and have a good peek at the front chassis rails. Dont despair if they are not in good fettle as Mm will tell you, there is a fix and its not too costly.

Re: What have you done to your MX5 today/yesterday?

Took the old girl for her yearly health check and passed with flying colours and not even a hint of an advisory, day was made even better with the renewal quote from Adrian Flux, a whopping increase of just £2.00, yes TWO English Pounds more than last year, no one could touch them so hats off to Dan...

Re: Drilled Airbox mk1 versus K&N induction...

Had a K&N typhoon fiited to my 2003 sport, sounded great, nice obvious induction sound. But I took it off as the sound of the induction was so good it kept on making me hit the loud pedal which wasnt good for the fuel economy. Personally, for maintaining the original engine bay look, I would sti...

Re: New aerial mast or the whole unit?

Had this issue on our very first mx, it was the tooths on the nylon mast insert that had failed. Solution for me was a new mast insert from mx5 parts, a simple strip down to remove the old mast and clean out the mechanism then insert the new mast which took me a couple of attempts to get it right.

If the body work is sound then it has to be worth the effort to sort out a fix.

Re: Failed drop link

All four plus the ARB bushes swapped out today, they all show a little sign of wear but nothing to really worry about. Job was made easy by using the 3 in 1 lift which saves my poor old knees. Hoping that these new bushes might clear up the occaissional tinny rattle as I cant find any thing loose. :...

Re: Transmission Shunt

From memory of our departed 2003 sport, there is no engine stabiliser, the only judder we had was via the clutch which was a known fault and cured by a new uprated clutch. The transmission on MX5s is fairly robust and simple, never heard of the symptoms your describing but I am sure when Mm is done ...
