Re: Car-19 and the road to recovery

Took everything out the engine bay again and finished wiring tuck. Cleaned up and put all the bits back in....and the old washer bottle (for now). Decided (finally) on the paint so ordered it before I changed my mind. Ordered the new stripes, the new roundels (again) the new numbers (again)...some o...

Re: Removing white water marks

First - did you use G3 on a machine or by hand? How much have you done with the G3. Was the pad/rag you used red afterward? I ask, because if you are going to use what I advise, I would advise caution because of how thin the paint may be..... G3 is quite strong and dries quickly. I always use megiua...

Re: Idle issues after battery was disconnected?

This might be a better view. This is with the air intake removed. On the left you can see the air intake = that is the throttle body has a little red arrow painted on it. Immediately below that is the idle control valve...that little circle... in fact the breather hose across the front of the cam co...

Re: Beginner!!

Oh, one more thing...when using the vactan. Wear latex gloves and really old clothes. When it dries.... it is hard to get off and turns blacker than a coal miners nostrils. Put something down on garage floor also...once on concrete, you won't get it off.

Re: Beginner!!

The outside looks OK Sam....that is good news mate :) Whilst we are all working out the front end, once you have the vactan, now would be a good time, to apply it to other areas that have surface rust...after cleaning of course, wire brush, scotch pad, flap wheel etc.... especially the underside of ...

Re: Beginner!!

OK...passenger side is worse than driver side. The two captive nuts have rusted through - have a look on the outside of the chassis rail passenger side at the front see what it is like there. This can be repairable - but you are going to need to learn welding, or have a mate with a welder...or if yo...

Re: Beginner!!

You are not wrong there...can't say I have seen one that far gone before. But don't let that get you down mate. You have plenty time. Take those two red covers off and look behind - you should get a good inside view of the chassis rails. Lot's of inspection, put up pics and we can all see together. ...

Re: Beginner!!

To replace that you are going to need a donor car. That is a huge job as it will involve the whole of the front end...and that means messing with chassis rails....and not really necessary. How are you with welding, and metal fabrication? You may be better fabbing some new metal in there to be honest...

Re: Idle issues after battery was disconnected?

If this has happened before the battery issue, check the idle control valve. THis works off pulse grounding via the ecu. The ohms might not be correct, or the plug itself might (very probably) caked in dirt/oil - being dirty may well NOT cause a problem, but any electrical connection should always b...
