ABS Pump Bleeding

I have just re-built all the calipers on my Mk2 and despite bleeding several times the pedal is not great and feels a bit soft. I am wondering if air has managed to get into the ABS, although we were careful to only do one at a time. Does anyone have the procedure for bleeding air out of the ABS pum...

Missfiring problem

Ok folks the Golden wonder has thrown a wobbly…. It started the other day when it started misfiring which at the time I thought might just being low on fuel so diverted straight to the Garage and filled it up-only took 9.3 gallons so didn’t think it would be low fuel. Started and ran fine back to ho...

Re: Antenna lead

Is it a Sony head unit? I had this problem on my Mk 2 with the Sony unit fitted from new. There is apparently a known problem where the radio ceases to work. I think it is probably only a small component failed or dry joint somewhere, but it was cheaper to buy another from that well known auction si...

Auto login not working again

It seems the auto login problem may have reared its head again with the new server.

I can now Log in on firefox having cleared the cookies but have to Log in every time I visit the site, even in the same session.

Chrome is the same, but at least it let me log in without clearing cookies

Air con Pump

Mk2 Air con pump wanted as mine has a seized pulley

Car is a 2000 Mk2 and the number on the pump ( Denso) is
447260-7020
08E 00016

This does not unfortunately match either of the ones on Autolink's site

There was one on that auction site, but this had ended some time ago.

Re: What have you got through the post today thread

A parcel from those nice people at Autolink. A couple of Mk1 soft top catches to re-furbish and replace the now non locking ones on my NB, along with the rubbers and plastic nipples I even remembered to use the MM discount code. I did however manage to order the wrong nipples (2.5 ones) as I didn't ...

Re: Cutting out when hot

This sounds very like what my 1.8 did. Started off intermittently when left after a run then eventually started cutting out on hot days. First thing is to get the LED kit and see what fault codes are there. On mine it showed up a CAM sensor fault, so I bought a new one and when it cut out on the roa...

Re: What have you got through the post today thread

We don't seem to have used this thread for a bit..... So just arrived with the Post Man, a diagnostic reader from MX5 Tech. This just plugs into the under bonnet socket and displays the error codes on a small screen- a bit easier than fiddling about with jumper wires and trying to count LED flashes....

Re: Air con problem

No developments as yet -been too wet/cold to get under it to check the part number. We think it is probably the bearing that has broken up and jammed the pulley, but can't be sure until we get it off. The shorter non air con belt fits OK and just misses the compressor pulley, so it is at least usabl...

Re: Air con problem

That rather more polite than I said MM! (its ****** big time!!!) Have a short belt on order so we can get power steering back working which will hopefully go on with the Air con compressor still in place. Have just moved it a bit without power steer and boy was it heavy-I must be getting old-my Dats...

Re: Air con problem

Been out this morning and the pulley won't turn by hand. Not sure how much resistance there should be and if I should be able to turn it. Not sure why it wont turn if it has a clutch I would have thought it would freewheel even if the compressor is seized. Belts were all changed about 8000 miles ago...

Air con problem

Just got back in with the NB and for the last mile or so there was a nasty smell of burning rubber which I initially thought was the car in front as he was going rather slowly. Pulled onto drive and stopped with smoke coming from under the bonnet....oh ****! Had a quick look under the bonnet to try ...
