Re: Flaking clear coat

Thanks for the replies. Ideally, I would like a complete respray, but I'm skint. Just wondering what diy solutions are viable. Can I effectively remove the remainder of the clear coat in some way? Can a reasonable finish of clear coat be applied with rattle cans? I could stretch to buying a compress...

Flaking clear coat

Got the dreaded clear coat flake. A bit disappointed really. It's the only car I've actually waxed a couple of times a year, and for about 7 out of the 10 years I've owned it, it has been garaged from Oct to Mar. Can't afford a respray. Is there anything I can DIY? Engine, running gear and handling ...

NA Steering Rack Pre-load Adjustment

Hi All, Got play in the steering rack. Checked all the ball joints, the steering column UJ and and all other joints and all seems well. So it seems to be the rack. Does anyone know the procedure for adjusting the pre-load? I see there is a large 38mm? locknut with a smaller nut head in the centre on...

Re: Tick over question

OK. Thank you. I'll have a look at the throttle body at the next available opportunity. Probably never been cleaned since it left the factory 19 years ago!

No fault codes. All checkable switches OK. No water in passenger footwell. Not sure where to go from here.

Somebody else's problem

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do. "Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?" ...

Tick over question

Not exactly a major problem but more of an irritation. When starting with a hot engine, say 5 to 20 mins after a run, the tick over is erratic, irregular and low, almost to the point of stalling. Normal driving is not affected. Plugs are standard NGK and the leads are Magnacor Electrosport 80. Just ...

BBS 14" pseudo spoked alloy identification?

Thinking of getting a set of these.

Just wondered if anyone has some info on how to identify the MX5/Roaster version, as I've seen 14" versions on other vehicles like old BMW 3s, which I suspect may be different.

I heard these were the lightest wheels available for the MX5. Is that correct?

Re: Headlight Retractor Relays

I'll save you some as it is a common fail with threst of the common bits that fail, but it is a relay at the end of the day. M-m It is only a relay, but £60 new and £25 ish used. If there is a 10 minute easy fix, it may help a few fellow enthusiasts. Anyway, I'm up for having a go. Have PM'd you my...

Headlight Retractor Relays

These seem to be a common failure. Has anyone dismantled one to see if they can be fixed? If not I would be interested to try and find out what the problem is, if someone has a couple of knackered ones they could send me. If they can be fixed I would be willing to try and write up some guidance.
