Re: Idiots guide to replacing TPS Eunos 1.6 please

Just to complete the story the problem is now solved. There were in fact two problems. The first, two loose earths which are screwed to the cam cover driver's side near the back. The second, the coolant sensor. All rectified now. Thank you for your replies.

Re: Idiots guide to replacing TPS Eunos 1.6 please

On the 1.6 Eunos this is just an on/off switch set up as folows: 16thou feeler under throttle stop continuity between cente and lower pins. 27thou under throttle stop and no continuity....

Re: Idiots guide to replacing TPS Eunos 1.6 please

Thank you for your reply. Will certainly do as you say. Are you of the opinion that it is not a TPS problem?

Idiots guide to replacing TPS Eunos 1.6 please

I'm pretty certain the problem we have is related to a faulty TPS. Symptoms; After changing gear and going back on the throttle the engine dies coughs and then picks up. Sometimes it won't start and sometimes the revs go up to 1500. I would be interested to hear your opinions please. The TPS has a t...

Eunos wiring question please

I have a 1990 Eunos 1600 and am trying to wire in the heated rear screen. I was going to mount the switch in place of one of the blanks. However, having prised both of them out I was surprised to find wires and terminal blocks on the other side. Any help here would be very much appreciated. Thank yo...

Re: Faults or normal? 1990 Eunos

Right, an update. To my great surprise, over the course of our holiday up in the Scottish Highlands the ride has improved to such a point that it is now quite acceptable. Prior to our ownership, the car had only covered 150 miles since 2009 so for five years it must have spent most of its time stand...

Re: Faults or normal? 1990 Eunos

When Wayne says full Mk2 suspension he means shocks, springs and top mounts. They are all different from the Mk1 but you should be able to get a complete set second hand and it all then bolts in to the same mounting points. Replacing the entire strut is actually a lot easier than swapping a shock o...

Re: Faults or normal? 1990 Eunos

Agree - you can never have the perfect mix of comfort and handling. If I was going for a daily driver Mk1 I would definitely fit the Mk2 suspension. But for chucking around the twists a set of adjustable dampers on lowered suspension is always going to be more effective. The trick as always is to f...

Re: Faults or normal? 1990 Eunos

It's all down to how you finish off with the fitting of them for them to sit correct and work correct paggers , it all comes down to budget, usage, how often and a look. The lowered coil overs will never be as comfy as the OE suspension units from the Mk 2's miesters get close on soft setting, but ...

Re: Faults or normal? 1990 Eunos

Hi John, The MX-5 does have a firm ride but what you are describing does sound like the shocks may be a bit on the tired side. On one my cars I had a similar situation, in fact if you hit a bump mid-corner the rear end would skip around which was quite alarming. I replaced both rear shocks and the ...
