Re: my first shot at an NA

1....Rub down and re add fresh paint if the bushes are still good. 2....Throw them away and fit some better units like meister r's. 3....You need to drill the back of the steering boss where the shaft hole is with a cone drill bit ( do it bit by bit and keep checking) which will help the boss move ...

Re: my first shot at an NA

1. Found paint has peeled off drop link and it has surface rust. Will need to replace i suppose. 2. Stiffened suspension (Gaz Gold Pro) to 10 and ride is much better and more predictable. 3. Adjusted steering wheel (from.Harvard edition) for 4th time but is never true centre. Will have to have aligh...

Re: Mk1 restoration

Happy New Year to all Menders!!! A few months away from the project. But now back on it :-D :-D :-D Continuing with the drivers side sill replacement. Starting at the front of the car, I cut out the rotten metal and then gave the remaining steel a good dose of rust inhibitor. Then fabricated the bo...

Seems you've been busy bossman. Glad you didn't buy the smart Roadster, worst gearbox in human history. I'm enjoying this thread.

Re: 1991 Eunos V-Special Mod thread 2

And here endeth the thread. Car sold today, away with her new keeper down to Chester. It was fun while it lasted... You barely had her that long. You fixed her all up and then parted ways. Was the offer that good? Something wrong? Are you going for a family car? So often i see great looking cars be...

Re: Mrs Mchattie's MK 3

I need to pay more attention, didn't know Sue bought a 5 :shifty: That black "MM" sprayed onto the rear reminded me of stories from the old days of TVR. Glad to see this Mk3 will be the best it possibly can though. Now let's see if Ian keeps this one as shiney as the red un... :auto-layrub...

Re: Hoodedreeper's Mk1 The Purple Monster

Damn Chris! I cannot believe i missed the last few posts..i only realised what happened after speaking to you on instagram (therealaardvark). Gotta say, always loved and respected your 5. Sad that she will be stripped and we shall lose another stunning car from the shows. I wish you (once again) the...

Re: my first shot at an NA

As i passed my MOT and was expecting to fail due to a sticky caliper (FR) i had some time so i thought I'd address the unfinished cosmetics in the boot. Tackled some rust patches 3 years ago but never finished them as i always have stuff in my boot. 20180904_113239.jpg A bit of masking and a can of ...

Re: my first shot at an NA

Been a whole year that i have not updated this thread, good news is that i have been busy at shows representing Mazdamenders and tinkering on the 5. Will update with lots of pics soon and also am putting together a DIY on how to bypass my leaky power steering oil cooler with the help of Wayne (need ...

Re: Hello from Derby

Welcome to the club buddy. Great choice of car. The Pheonix 1.8 is my favourite Mk2 and in my eyes the best "special edition" MX5 of any shape. As for all the stuff you need & want to do, take your time. Start with the basics. Get the chassis rust sorted and maybe start coming to the e...

Re: Coolant Reservoir Clean

A few members have used jetwashes to clean them. I ended up using various bottle brushes and lots and lots of detergent.

Must say your idea is smarter than mine. Its also similar to how we clean loose rust from our old aircooled VW fuel tanks before relining the tanks. :handgestures-thumbup:
