Did you test while she was running ? As that sounds like a charge rate from an alternator pushing what it should but the battery is not holding it.

OBD II will not tell you anything at mazda....changing a motor may have done more harm than good.

I have got to ask ,,,is there anything been left on the rear deck , as that is the most common thing to happen, or the boot open , and which motor have you replaced as there are 4 in total.

The Mk 1 NA VS II is being used as a daily at the minute,,,and i have been chasing a rattle and vibration with the exhausts , twin exit Mx5 parts units, so off it came as the trait of them is the support pieces from the box to the pipes weld become loose and vibrate ,,,,not those as the were re-weld...
