blackyb wrote:Confused about the six flashes, am I right in saying that a 2001 will be OBD11. Or am I missing the point and completety up the wrong road.

2001 will be OBDII but airbag system problems are read by flash codes - the airbag warning light itself flashes.

Re: Hello and Help Please

Can you confirm the flashes? Is it 6 equal flashes or something like 4 slow and 2 fast?

Re: Hello and Help Please

There is only a sensor on the passenger side. It’s an occupancy sensor. There is no need for an occupancy sensor on the drivers side as it’s hard to crash without a driver! If your car has heated seats, you will have a single 2-wire connector on the drivers seat but that has nothing to do with airba...

Might also mean it is running rich and/or it has a misfire which is killing the cat. They don’t like unburnt fuel.

Re: Mk2.5 Tyre Rubbing on Full Lock

Do you know if it has been used as a drift-car at some point? Might someone have fitted... whatever it's called... that allows extra steering lock for drifters?

Re: Mk 4 with lifeless steering

Way back in 98 I bought my first 5, a Mk1 1.8i Berkeley. I had to have the alignment done after a couple of months because, although it was fine in a straight line, it turned sharply left but very heavy right. Turns out I had negative camber one side and positive the other. I was told that whether a...

Re: mk2 1.8 exhaust , cat & egr

Hi Ebod On an otherwise standard car, there is no benefit from removing the EGR. The carbon canister just helps to absorb fuel fumes from the fuel tank to stop them venting to the atmosphere. Re: Thermostat???

sounds like thermostat slow to open, could also be a partially blocked radiator, if you renew the thermostat, flush the system, and when clean put new anti freeze in it. hopefully sorted. you can check the old thermostat by putting it in a pan of boiling water to see if it opens or not, sounds like...

Re: Wanted Mk2.5

Well there is mine but probably not one for your mum. It has GAZ Gold Pro suspension, Larini cat & mid-pipe and Racing Beat dual rear box. Oh, and Mk3 seats bolted down, not on runners. No rust and never needed any kind of repair.
