Re: Rough idle after track day - Camshaft position sensor?

Compression test is a good place to start when your are scratching your head a bit. Make sure the basics are right, good compression and no blown head gasket. If they are fine you can move on without that annoying niggle at the back of your mind.

Don't forget roll bar "D" bushes. Can you make it squeak manually yourself by rocking the car or bouncing on a corner. If you can do that then it might be easier to pinpoint the noise. Also dry ball joints can squeak too. :handgestures-thumbup:

Re: Harness slots in an early mk1 seat

I did once see some dodgy stuff on nutz cutting through a standard seat and also fitting tube in there like drain pipe. Buy a second hand seat mate. Worth it in the end. :handgestures-thumbup:

Re: Greetings from the frozen wastes of the Scottish Borders

Hi and welcome. :-D There is loads of info on here and lots of friendly menders. They are a great little car and very reliable. What other car is this old and still going so strong. Yes they can rust but mainly from past owners not cleaning drain holes regularly or at all. Hope you have a great time...

I guess the passenger foot well is a no go for the extinguisher then. My old racer had the battery in passenger foot well too.
