Re: bad misfire
I will see how it goes over the next few days. But yesterday after say 2 mins of struggling, it came alive and was perfect for the drive.
I will check the wires and see if there is a dirty contact.
I will check timing.
Thanks

Re: bad misfire
 Well after much knuckle bashing I finally managed to get the oil coil pack off and replaced it with a new one and still some misfire. Does not last as long - but that was only one trip. so new coil pack, plugs and leads and still a misfire. Keep looking. Two points though 1. The under bonnet l...

Re: bad misfire
With the help of Percy Verance it managed swap the old coil pack off. So after changing coil pack, plug leads and spark plugs I still get some misfire around 1500 rpm when under load. Not quite back to square one, but nearly. BTW. If you use the aftermarket coil pack from Autolink, be aware tha...

Mines a 95
Well changed the plugs and no improvement - so coil pack change it is then. The wiring plug connectors feel difficult to remove. Can they be taken off after I have removed the three bolts and lifted the coil pack up ?

Re: bad misfire
Just fitted new spark plug leads- no difference.
Next to try, when rain stops, is new spark plugs.
I have bought a 4 pin 1.8 95-98 coil pack if required. Hope it is the correct one..

Re: bad misfire
Well I think I have found my misfire problem.
New leads ordered from Autolink..
Just a note.. I had to peel back the rubber cover to see the extent of the problem. Cleaning the terminal made the problem better but didn't clear it.

Hi , My 95 Mk1 1.8 has a recurring problem. When staring from cold it idles ok, but when I try to pull away it misfires severely for a couple of minutes then all seems ok. This evening after I got home I put the MX5 Tech Diagnostic box on to test it and I got my usual Atm pressure error. No other fa...
