Greetings and welcome to menders, this site was built for every owner that might need her to help keep those bills low and also keep them on the road where they belong, she is run by very passionate enthusiasts owners for passionate enthusiastic owners, see her like a on line garage, there is a lot of tech stuff hopefully explained for everyone to use, if there is something you cannot get your head around, or you feel that there is a strong walk through guide missing that needs creating by one of us or from yourselves, please let us know, we are also on false book and youtube, which as short tech vids to help, and again if you feel there is a vid that would help please get it touch.

The answer is YES for the doubters out there....

Pics were all taken on a phone camera so not 100% but i think you get the point and they speak for themsleves, they are basically the same body tub under all the outer shell bits, they WILL all fit each other with the minimum of effort, the MK 1 is NOT smaller than a MK 2/2.5, although some MK 2.5 1.6 versions have a larger brake master/ servo fitted so any make of engine strut brace WILL need a bit of fettling to make it fit.

I didn't know there was any debate on this.

The only ones I'd expect any issue with would be the triangular braces that mount to the bulkhead as well as the suspension turrets.

great to find this post as I have a 2.5 brace like the silver and black one above and have yet to fit it because it genuinely seems too tight. must have another look at it…. :handgestures-thumbup: :text-coolphotos:

Fitting a standard Mk 2.5 strut brace to the MK 2.5 1.6 cc with the bigger brake servo....
