How to adjust window seals, Mk 1/2/2.5

Postby Mazda Mender » Tue Mar 22, 2016 11:46 pm

It is not something that is shown or explained that the 3 x Rubber OE seals to the side window glass is adjustable, if you are getting bad noise or water getting past, the seals on the hard top can also be adjusted the same...

Lock the hood in place, pull the centre seal off, peel the front one forward and the rear one down, you should now be able to see the seal s/steel holding frames.
The front frame is held in place by 3 x s/steel philips head screws, the middle one is held by 2 and the rear one by 3.

Undo the screws on the front one, only undo , do not remove, you will see that where the screws hold the frame in place the frame holes are oval, so pull the frame to the outer edge and re-tighten the screws, follow the same on the middle and rear, once done re-fit the seals, adjust if needed.

You have now adjusted the seals further out to make a better seal, so less noise and more water tight.

It should take 30 minutes to do both sides.

Remember that if you bring the window down on the passenger side, when you bring it back up, the glass will pinch the seals, so at the first chance you get, open and shut the door/glass flat against the seals.
