Door rubber bump stops

Postby Mazda Mender » Wed Mar 23, 2016 12:09 am

Where to begin on this subject :angry-banghead:

Right there is some proper crap on the web, all about these so called all singing all dancing aftermarket rubber door bump stops, and some even 3D printed( give me a break please)....
The claims are....
1) They stiffen the roadster up :laughing-rolling:
2) They are great for making less noise ..... :laughing-rolling:

OK.....
1),,,,They do not and never will stiffen up the roadster, they are bump stop guides, and are just that alone. If you want to stiffen the roadster up, fit braces for the job, roll bars etc or weld them up with old scaffolding poles,or better still weld the full door up.
2),,,,The only thing in that area that deals with road noise etc is the door seals/window seals etc. Certainly not a rubber bump stop guide regardless of who makes them out of what ever.

If, the OE ones are worn , owners have tried to justify buying them for that reason plus sucked in by the points above, well here is what you do to solve the worn door bump stops that in most cases have lasted nearly 25 years...
They are not handed, so open the door, in this case the drivers side first...

Then get yourself a 1/4 ratchet ,extension bar and Number 10mm socket and crack both bolts and remove the OE rubber door bump stop....

Then make your way to the passenger side and open the door and locate the OE rubber door bump stop, remove that with your ratchet/extension and 10mm socket, put the passenger bump stop to one side, and pick up the drivers side OE bump stop,,,,,this is where the magic happens and you save money .....

Passenger side....

Because the drivers side top is worn, now that you have swapped it to the passenger side. Ready....the bottom that is NOT worn becomes the top, bolt it back into place and adjust to suite , you now have another 20 odd years of OE rubber door bump stops,,,, I know it's incredible , magic parts,
Once adjusted and happy pick up the worn passenger side OE rubber door bump stop and fit it to the drivers side, yes, the magic continues, it's amazing I know the worn bit now goes to the bottom again and the un-worn bit now sits at the top like new again.....magic.
The best thing is this will work on all roadsters from 1989 > 2015, I know, it's great news for all those fellow owners regardless of model, version or country, well done for NOT listening to rubbish, saving cash for the same out come for just a little time spent swapping them from side to side, talk about great value for money :handgestures-thumbup: :coffee: and laugh at the owners that are spending on something they really don't need because of hype.

Worn bit....
