Postby Mazda Mender » Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:34 pm

These are now being made again to make sure the hard tops stay rooted to the roadsters from light fingered thieves...
This was a test lock from Autolinkmx5 and was spot on....https://www.autolinkmx5.com/hard-top-an ... 1094-p.asp

Tools needed...

Either a T 27 torx driver (later MK 2.5 )or a medium phillips driver (MK 1 & Mk 2's)

The hard top lock is made from thick s/steel with a security lock with two keys ...

Offer the back section against the hard top where the latch bolts down, put the guide nipple of the latch into the striker plate/bracket and hinge it up against the back section of the hard top lock section and against the hard top.....

Insert the top most bolt first and screw it in around half only ,do not tighten it fully down just yet, as we are using the bolt to hold it all in place while we get the others on with adjustment to fit correct..

Now fit the bottom bolts but do not tighten until everything is lined up. Once all the bolts are in place and NOT cross threaded, then tighten everything down nice and tight and close the latch back down...
