Hi from Silsden

Hi all,
Ime Frank and new to the forum. Owned a Honda S2000 for a few years and never really gelled with it but got offered an unpainted 2002 mx5 about a year ago, painted it myself and absolutely love it. So Ime gonna keep it and sell the Honda. Anyhow it's been parked up for a couple of months and when I started it the alternator had siezed and it broke the belt. Managed to get it a short distance to a mates garage and now won't start. Turns over but no spark and no fuel pump. Obd says anti theft device. Have seen the article on replacing the ecu and immobiliser box so going to get to the ecu in the next couple of days then will be in the market for a new set. I only have one key for this car, will this affect the remedy at all?
Anyway any help or pointers would be appreciated, thanks Frank.

Welcome to the world of Meders.

An S2000, I always wanted one but couldn't find a decent one for the right money. (still secretly would like one but dint tell the wife) Got introduced to the world of all things MX5 and the rest is history.

I'm no super mender but from previous experiences, I had to replace the ECU to my departed 2003 sport and was given full instructions on how to reprogramme my keys, not sure if it works when associated with an immobiliser issue but I think Wayne wrote up the instructions on how to do this.

Seems to be a common problem with the immobiliser failing on some MX5s following long lay downs or electrical problems, there's loads of help and advice to be found on this site if you take your time and dig, you will also be amazed at the amount of knowledge being shared. Some super guys n gals on here and given time they will help you out.

So once again welcome to the world of menders and fixerupers!!
