Hi and good evening,
I will attempt to upload when i have got used to communicating through a forum,
but my first question is
does a 1.8 5 speed gearbox bolt to a 1.6 engine ( donor car is an import too )?
i understand that i also need 1.8 diff, prop shaft ,drive shafts'
i am looking at converting my 1.6 V spec from auto to manual
the donor car is a 1.8 5 speed with lsd and i think abs.
also i would say the PPF would be needed?
any information is gratefully received.

thanks

The MK1 5 spd box is fitted to the 1.8 and 1.6, same box, there is no need to fit the 1.8 clutch etc but only really if you are thinking of adding extra ponies with boosting, a 1.6 clutch is more than up to the job needed, ( fit new clutch)the NB 5 SPD is a lot better stronger box.
There is no need to change the diff but for choice, PPF and prop is a must, the only wiring you will need to sort is the reverse and neutral , if the 1.8 is dead? Cut the plug and socket off that way in the future you are still able to unplug rather than cut.
Pedal box is needed, master and slave( fit new slave) and all pipe work , inlet does not need changing the rad or ECU.
Be mind full what you read and watch, even more so the Miata stuff they will have you changing the loom and half the roadster for this conversion, it can be done in a weekend.

good morning
ok got that i have skipped through some post on the web some more daunting than others but going to keep here i think.
last point for now but on the subject of differentials 1.6 auto is an open diff 7" gear 13 external cooling fins rather than buy a LSD i have just started looking at having a open diff converted to a LSD.
the cost of a LSD in good condition after a service is about the same as having an open converted.
i would be grateful to here your thoughts or any ideas ?

cheers for know.

Jap imports were LSD other than the auto's...you will need to also carry over the drive shafts from the 1.8 to fit your 1.6 ..but you may as well put the 1.8 brake set up on while you are at it bud
