Get it out of your system. Keep it clean'ish. It can be just about anything that has ragged you up, but please not about the OC. Leave their politics there.

Euro Car Parts

Postby blackyb » Wed Jul 07, 2021 8:05 pm

I look after a mates 2007 mk3.

Just the basic stuff as I am not in the league of Master Menders.

Last year I mentioned that his front n/s caliper was showing signs of old age. Gave it a good clean up and got it through the mot.

He had noticed an occasional wobble on the front wheels, took it to get the wheels balanced , nothing to report but asked me to have a look. It ws obvious the caliper was sticking.

He said he would supply them if I would fit them, yeah not a problem.

So to the rant.

He went to Eurocarparts, got a pair of fronts and as agreed he landed first thing this morning. I opened the pagid caliper box and straight away said to him. THEY WONT FIT.

So off he went back to Euro while his MX sat in my garage. Rings me saying Euro say it's got the wrong calipers fitted, it must have had a brake change, err no it hasn't. Put me on the phone to some geezer at Euro, no joy there might as well have been talking to Donald trump. So whipped a caliper off and went through myself.

Still insisted theres are correct. Refund and words exchanged.

By chance called into another not so wlll known motor factors tucked away and not on line.

Have you got a set of front calipers for a 2007 mk3 mx5. Yes we have and yes they were exactly what was required and cheaper.

Absolute shambles.

Told my mate to get onto Menders and use Andrew at Autolink for any parts in future or this little local motor factors as they seem to know what they are tslking about.

Right footy just kicked off so time to turn the telly over.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!

Sounds about right.
Not a fan of Eurofarts ,I have had bad dealings with them myself with wrong parts etc , the problem with them is that it is a data base they use of their own and they deal or try to deal with every make and model, which is always going to go wrong at some point , seems to be more often than not.
For anything you need for these roadsters, use a proper specialist that knows these Roadsters and centred around the one make car, Andrew is at the top of the ladder.
But there are a lot of so called " specialists" that like to use that term themselves that are not that great, and there seems to be more and more slapping that term about now on false book.
Ask the guys that work on them , we know who to use and trust.
I won't use them.

It sounds like you've had some frustrating experiences with Eurofarts and prefer to work with specialists who have a deeper understanding of specific car models like roadsters. Trusting recommendations from those who work directly on these cars seems like a wise approach.

I am just doing a warning about Eurofarts over the alternators they are dishing out causing major issues...
