Hi Wayne just joined up now... Yeah I've got the reg plate up there because I've done a front end conversion on my mk2 to the mk2.5 so I've just not had time to put it on, I need the bumper spraying in to be honest and then I can either go with a sticker or offset or put the standard plate back on... I'm undecided after speaking with Wayne today giving me the offset idea...

Hi Jamie, was good to meet you at Waynes this afternoon when you came to pick up your car. And I got to say I love the red roof, really sets the car off. Wayne has given me so many ideas for my Merlot today.

Hi John, yeah it's always good to meet other owners :-D thanks mate, I love it! I wasn't sure at first but like you say it really sets the car off & got a good few looks on the drive home which is always good. I know the to do/wish list just keeps getting longer and longer, so does the ebay watch list! It's true what they say, it really is a bug and it's hard not to catch it haha

Donated some of my excess Mk1 parts to M-m via Ian (Speedy) cos they were cluttering my garage up.

Thanks again Colin, I have delivered the parts to M-m and he has made good use of them, any more bits lying around you need getting rid of just 'shout'

Not what I've done, but what Mazda Mender did for me. Last year he helped me get 'Shrek', 2005 plate Arctic 1.8. So this 8 year old car went through it's MOT yesterday, and passed with flying colours, not even an advisory.

First MX5, so I can put up with the crazy seats and other "quirks" for £45.

On Saturday I fixed an exhaust leak on a Mk2 for Chris aka Daddy Cool on Nutz.
It was blowing from the joint between the manifold and downpipe and had been since a garage fitted a new FM cat on the car.
Not a difficult job by any means but did require laying under a car on axle stands on a cold morning and a creative use of a variety of socket extensions and a big breaker bar.
The garage had broken one manifold stud and had drilled it out to replace with a nut & bolt. I think where they went wrong after that was to fit the bell-housing bracket first which held the pipe at slightly the wrong angle then were scared to tighten the manifold nuts enough to pull it into place in case they broke another stud. I just fitted the bell housing bracket loosely then tightened the manifold bolts before finally tightening the bell housing bracket.

Funnily enough, the most difficult part was finding somewhere that had the manifold gasket and downpipe to car crush ring gasket in stock. Exhaust fitters didn't despite having the exhausts in stock. It seems they don't bother replacing the gaskets unless they are asked to (Kwik Fit - go figure). Found them at a motor factors in the end.

And that's what it's all about! While it was an easy enough job for me to do, if you didn't know what you were doing, didn't have the right tools and didn't have a feeling for how tight things should be then it could become a very difficult job.
