Do you have any experience with rear wheel drive cars? Comparing the 5's handling to a soft front wheel drive car is like comparing apples and screwdrivers.

I have a set of ditch finders on the white Mk 2 at the Min,(they where on the rims) and she is crying for a full alignment doing, but makes for some fun driving on the twisty turnies on the way back from work to wayne mansion on our testing road, knowing that just that little bit to much, will have me in the edge.

Not a lot but have driven them and expected a bit more stability... Was out yesterday in the dry and it felt great if a little light at speed (anything above 60) as you say cheap tyres could be an issue and not something I would skimp on for either me or my wife so they could get changed sometime soon. Maybe I expect too much for a 21 yr old car that is standard.... My mates is soooo tight but then he has done a lot f playing with his. Long last the dry days...

This sounds like a classic case of a car that is badly in need of alignment.

Realignment it is then, there is a place across the road from work that are good and about £60 for digital check and report. How does that sound?

Well finally got this sorted. It turns out I have ditch finders one of which is twisted slightly and would need replacing. The alignment on the back was spot on the front was out slightly but now sorted. I took it for a quick drive down the motorway and back country roads and all felt a lot better. I will change the tyres at some stage but at 55.00 plus vat a corner for Avons I can't sell that one to my good lady just yet but much happier for now.....

Are they 15s? If so you can get tyres much cheaper than that, or you can in England anyway. Also, I wouldn't go for Avons if you are trying to move away from ditch-finders

Yep 15s. I thought they were a bit dear considering what I paid for my mrs mini on michelin energy. I will have a look about I remember reading about someone in one of the forums getting a full set of toyo for about 160.that sounded good.
