Thanks, will wait to find out the number of the Bosch however I'd prefer to keep the standard tray and clamp (early mk1 Import). The 063 may just about fit in terms of height with some mods to the clamp but its 50mm wider than standard.

Standard dims are l:235mm, d:125mm, h:160mm

From what I can find the only three batteries that will secure well enough with the standard equipment is the OE Panasonic, the WestCo, and the special MX5 Version of the Lion on ECP/CP4L - http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/- ... 0&cc5_1026

Yes dimension wise these are the three that will fit 100%.

The Westco gets a bad name for not lasting that long.

MX5 parts sell this expensive larger battery kit that is a larger tray and longer U bolt but with postage say £45 and none in stock.

That would let the cheaper type "063" battery to be fitted securly. A lot of modern batteries have vent holes in that can be connected to the vent tubes with one of those red battery nipples.

The Bosch is a EURO type "063" if my memory serves me correctly.
