Postby altruistic1964 » Fri Aug 07, 2015 5:27 pm

Have seen these on eBay

and like the look of them.

Is this job fairly straightforward to do?

Thanks in advance.

You need a 6 speed dial set, these are cream, so you'll need to search for white.

Easy enough if you know what your doing.
I'll do a how to guide, there are only minor differences between the 1 and 2 to do it.

On the subject of dials, does anyone know where I can get a nice set of cream or white (pref cream) ones for a mk1 without the "Lockwood" logo on the tacho - I had them on my last Mk1 and hated the logo. I mailed Lockwood asking if they make them just plain. Answer: Yes but they'd be custom and will cost £180 a set (vat) - the vat was in brackets written just like I've shown so I'm not sure if it's £180 inc or exc the dreaded. Whatever it seems a bit excessive when a set with the logo can be had for about 30 quid.

I can get a some made up in Canada to my own design for around £90 by a fella who did some for a mate last year but if I can get some UK made ones I'd prefer. Are there any little cottage industries that anyone knows about who are knocking out dial sets?

There was a Co that use to do them in any colour you wanted, but they closed down and they made really good dial sets, you might be able to find them still s/hand through the bay of E.
I'll have a search to and see what around.

Well after looking around there doesn't appear to be anyone in the UK making and selling custom dials so it looks like the Canadian fella. http://revlimiter.net/store/gauges-na.php

When I get the RS settled in here I'll order some up from him and have them delivered to my daughter who lives in Canada, she can then send them on here and we'll hopefully avoid any taxes.
