Fed up with FB kids...

Postby Lazza » Tue Oct 06, 2015 7:41 pm

Is it just me? It can't be!

It looks like every MX5 related FB page is becoming full of kids who only want an MX5 so they can go "skidding", usually on the road. I'm getting fed up with it. I mostly try to ignore it but if I ever make the mistake of suggesting that road drifting is a bad idea I will be told that I am too old, usually with the assumption that I drive a standard unmodified car around sedately on a Sunday afternoon.

I'm mostly only on those pages so I can help out and offer advice but I'm slowly removing myself from all of them. Soon I'll only have the Norfolk 5s page left!

Just a bit of a moan. I would have posted it to the rant section but I just can't be bothered to rant about it

I lost interest in most of the FB groups from "the kids " who know it all when they know better than my advice and info,,, You only need to check how many i am in now to understand where i stand with it all, the only good thing is that the mazda menders group will not stand for it and we all have the same view, we are there for a reason and don't need or do bull sh*t in any shape or form, take just last week with the lad with a cold start problem with his turboed MS jobbie we helped him out as a group and then started to tell us that he had been out and blasted it and got 0 to 6.something and the posted a vid of a spitfire wheel spinning, and then could not understand my attack which he said i was rude etc after telling him to not post them as we are not interested or the fact of the 0- 6 . whatever in a speed limit zone and it was boring after a interesting thread was going strong and told him if he did not like it to go, as it is no big deal as we are about quality not quantity.
The scene kids are killing it on FB, thats why i am so happy we have this and a private group on FB that is vetted by Admin and it works as a team.
Personally i have no time for it, but Lazza ....your just getting old man and not down with da kids :laughing-rolling: :obscene-buttsway:

Just realised from this thread that there is a Menders FB group, added it.

Most mx-5 facebook groups are a bit of a joke I must admit

But that is more to do with you being a miserable moany git that any problem with FB

It's not FB that's the problem. I use it for a lot of stuff, photo competitions, keeping in touch with distant friends, organising drives etc. It's just the MX5 related FB pages that seem to be being taken over by "kids" who have no idea of their own mortality or any care for the mortality of others, combined with the wish to have the lowest, phatest, sickest ride they can get regardless of how much it ruins it as a car.

I see all sides of the scene, and they are all there for a reason, and don't have issuse with others choices in how they want to use them unless it is just total stupid, but most of these FB mx5 related groups are just sh*t, and these scene kids know everything and will not listen to knowledge with these roadsters, you bang your head on the desk everytime you hit that f*ck wit, and it is becoming a lot on FB, i am not in many groups now as i have far better things to do than fight f*ck wit with correct honest advice.
If they are going to f*ck them up ,then let them, it just means more value on my good ones, my main concern is f*ck wit c*cking them up to sell onto a new owner to get stung with a dangerous piece of crap.

I get more concerned that these kids are just buying them to drive sideways. They are always on there trying to buy new wheels/wishbones/suspension/body panels etc. because they lost it on a bend/roundabout/straight piece of road and bent it around a pole/tree/other car etc. How long before someone wipes out a mother & child or a whole bus-queue?

I could be tagged as an old git as well, but Facebook and Twitter just don't do anything for me, I don't want to be part of the social media brigade.
I much prefer forums with the addition of being able to PM members, pretty much as this forum does. I also like to pick a telephone up and speak to people.

I do know what you mean - but - internet forums are also classed as social media. There is in reality very little difference between something like Facebook and a forum. In both you can put whatever update you want on it, load pictures, talk crap to whoever might be interested etc.

What he is saying is that most forums are managed where as FB is just full of crap, and the lazy posters are on there.
