Haynes Manual for ND

Postby knighty77 » Thu Aug 26, 2021 4:27 pm

Just had a reply from Haynes regarding after about six years they have not issued a hard back manual for the ND. Their reply was that they don’t have any plans to do a hardback copy for this vehicle and they are concentrating on the online version. I have the online version and have found it not as helpful as a hardback. Very disappointing.

Sorry just noticed your reply, in fact I had to search to find where I had posted it. I will have a go at most things on a car but like to have backup in the form of a manual if I get out of my depth. In the past Haynes manuals have served me well so when finally they release this on line version I bought one. I needed to change rear discs and pads which I have done numerous times on my Mk2.5, not a problem. The unknown for me was there anything electronic involved because of Hill Launch Assist that I should be careful of when taking it apart. The only thing in the manual is a simple diagram with torque settings, very simple and not helpful for my purposes.

So as i do , take pics and do a write up of the process for others to use also that are stuck through here, admin then lock it into place for good with your name on it, Haynes were never that great, not enough pics of a process which are usually hard to work out anyway in black and white and loads of a processes info missing for a job to be carried out, i kind of get that they cannot cover every little detail, but some of those details are very important and you are buying a workshop manual so you kind of expect it all to be covered?, but we had nothing else at the time to use( and i am going back before the good old internet) ,PDF manuals are easy enough, and in most cases are factory manauls, although i have found that they really do go around the houses for many jobs ,but you just print off whats needed for the job to thumb through.
I personally buy the workshop manuals to see just how good they are and rate them thinking about the home spanner throwers they are aimed at to use, haynes although a little poor they are not the worst out there for owners to trust, but i feel you pain.

Thanks. I will take pictures etc and post for my next job on the ND. For other owners there is no electronic connections for hill launch assist on the disc and pads. None that I found, I guess it is somewhere else or is done by some kind of Japanese “magic”.
