Re: My mx5 tow A frame...
Mazda specifically advise against towing a Mk2 with it's rear wheels on the ground! Is this not the case with the MK1. Also as it is an unbraked trailer, the maximum towing capacity of a MK1 will be well under the weight of the a Mk1 on the rear. Unless you are doing the towing with a heavier vehicle.

Re: My mx5 tow A frame...
Sorry ? What?....am I missing something here? Glad you appreciate the hard work that went into making this....it as taken a good while to get this right, and I 100% guarantee it is far better made than any you can buy very easily off the bay of e etc...but thank you fellow mender /admin.
It as a tow ball fitting on it to be attached to the Honda CRV to then be attached to the roadsters with me sat in them while we pull the builds ( full cars) to the body shop and back when finished, also around to the alignment place, 5 miles if that at the most,...I am well aware of the towing weight for the MK1? ,even though it really makes no difference to whats being done and how?, the MK2 does not have one and never issued with one , and if we are getting really anal about it Neither does an import JDM MK 1 really but it's a gray area, I don't need to inform the insurance as it is being towed like a "breakdown" by another vehicle any way, but thanks for the put downs and negative post and the fact that I need to over explain something so simple that you have felt the need to make it sound over complected and illegal, which it is so so not, when really it was obvious by looking at the frame.
And here is one to make you good and moist, both of my black roadsters MK 1 and MK 2 ,both imports JDM, have hitch bars fitted and legally can have them, i'll let you work that one out for the correct answers.
Unreal.

Re: My mx5 tow A frame...
That looks really professional, nice job!
I think there might be an unintentional misconception with how this will be used, my assumption is that this is going to be used to tow the MX5 with a much heavier vehicle designed for towing, not an MX5. Rigid tow hooks are much safer than tow ropes.
My friend once got a MK1 Golf with a blown rad half way across France with some sketchy nylon rope hung off a Honda Civic. It was alright once it got going but as a passenger in the Golf starting off was a bit "boingy"
