How to make a perfect liquid funnel for the mx5 for emergencies

Come on now admit it ....how many of us have done a road trip and have gone to check the the oil etc. (very important in a Mk 2 1.8 NB) and needed a top up, only to find that the oil you have or coolant or what ever's in the bottle is brimmed and you just know it is going to go everywhere - great news when trying to get oil in and you know it is going to be a nightmare...
Now even a standard funnel is rubbish to use use as it does not sit still with the thin long spout and gets backed up so you need to wait while the fluid finds its way through.
This is very simple to make...store it in the spare wheel for that "just in case" moment as you "know" it will happen at some point...
So let's get all Blue Peter for 30 minutes...
Whats needed...
A garden/cleaners or hairdressers water spray bottle 750ml (Anands your man)
A utility knife
Sissors
Marker pen
Sand paper
So get your spray bottle and mark it with your marker pen...
Then cut it off with either the Scissors or utility knife - please be careful - and cut off the screw cap end...
Using the utility knife trim the spout end bit off smooth (using a large cone step down drill bit made the job quicker)...
Now rub the ends on the sand paper until they're straight'ish and smooth....
Then use the utility knife to remove the burrs and shave the edges...
And that's it...it locks into the rocker cover and the rad firmly, and it is not too big so is easily stored...large funnel end so the liquid goes in fast and does not back up like ones with a thin spout...great for that emergency funnel as it takes up no room.....
Hope this is of help to someone at some point....happy motoring ..
