Introduction

Postby goodwoodmx5 » Mon May 10, 2021 9:18 am

My name is Steve Bloxham and I have run Goodwood Sportscars specialising in the sale of Mazda MX5s for over 15 years now. My background is in car sales and I worked in various main dealer garages for many years (Renault, Land Rover, VW, Vauxhall and Mercedes). By the time I had finished working in garages of this type, I had worked out that most car salesmen aren't car enthusiasts and I had a good idea of how NOT to sell cars - lots of pressure and lots of bull. I set up Goodwood Sportscars in 2000 and decided that I would only sell cars that genuinely interest me, as a car enthusiast.

Around 90% of what I sell are Mazda MX5s and I spent a few years importing cars from Japan, again mostly Mazdas (including quite a few RX7 FD) but also the odd Nissan Skyline or Mitsubishi Evo, Toyota MR2, a few Imprezas and quite a lot of big old Mercedes. These days, I concentrate on Mazda MX5 and Eunos, mostly Mk1s though the market for good MK2s is gathering pace. I spend a lot of time studying the MX5 market and talking to other MX5 specialists and car dealers though most of my time is spent trying to track down really good quality, solid MX5s. I'm based in Northumberland, on the England/Scotland border.

Most of my stock appear on my Facebook page first: https://www.facebook.com/Goodwoodsportscars and on my website: https://www.goodwoodsportscars.co.uk/

I also love my motorsport, mainly hillclimbs and sprints - I compete in the Scottish Hillclimb Championship in an MX5. I've been a big F1 fan since the days of James Hunt and Niki Lauda (which will give you a clue how old I am!) and my son is a well known motorsport photographer specialising in F1 and Formula E, who gives me lots of background gossip.

I own a few of my own Mazdas including an incredibly clean 1992 Eunos 1.6 in Mariner Blue that I imported from Japan a few years ago, a 1995 Eunos 1.8 R-Ltd and a 2000 Mk2.5 1.8 Sport.
Current cars include 1997 Eunos S-Special 1.8, 1992 Eunos 1.6, 1994 Eunos RS-Ltd (turbo-charged), Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (996), Porsche Boxster S, Mercedes C350CDI, and Mercedes ML280CDI.

Hi Steve.

Your website is one I often visit and have book marked. I like to look see at what's on offer and there are often some very tempting MXs but reality always sets in and I end up saying if only or I wish.

We actually called in a few years back to have a look while we were on a Berwick on Tweed walking holiday.

Good to have you on board.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!
