Has anyone used the Sachs dampers as sold by Autolink (http://www.autolinkmx5.com/shock-absorb ... -384-p.asp)

Are they any better than oe?

Ideally I would, but if I can get a set of dampers and the autolink sport springs to slightly lower for £250ish vs meisterrs for £500ish, I could spend the difference on something like bushes or getting alloys properly refurbed.

They're a lot of money for something I will only drive a couple thousand miles a year

Yea but when you drive her she will be right, your bushes are ok at the minute.

Meister-R :bow-yellow:

Wayne fitted Meister-R's this time last year on my Mk1, WOW they are just the dogs dangly bits, I had the ebay specials before them and although they were okay they were not a patch on the Meisters, they are just pure smooth over any surface and boy she just handles so very very well, with 32 click settings to adjust at your fingertips as Wayne says buy once and be very happy, corners on B roads and roundabouts are just absolutely awesome. Had a run in with a big BMW yesterday on a B road that I know very well I just put the foot down after he was pushing my bootlid and left him standing on the twisty bits, love it.

Save up for Meisters you wont regret it. :handgestures-thumbup:

And then run her around to the Toyota lads for my settings and she will be a different roadster in the bends.

I know I know I know, but the oem stuff can't be THAT bad can it?

I don't know much about aftermarket coilovers, will they last that much longer than oe gear?

I'm not on about getting cheap nasty gear, just standard set up, not super duper upgraded coilovers

Then spending money saved elsewhere

Standard dampers go on and on and on, but with what you want to do, fitting lowering springs will give you the look you want , but the ride will be harsh and your spine will love it, you will not enjoy the ride, every pot, every speed hump etc you will dread.
If you are leaving her standard height? on standard dampers and springs she will be fine and the dampers will last but you will still need good tyres and a alignment regardless of what ever dampers you use.

What we are trying to say is why be happy with 50% thats ok when you can have 100% which is far better to get the full feel, fun, handling, and enjoyment from her, even if it is only a couple of 1,000 miles a year(that will change).
But i do understand budget, when and how she is being used under which conditions.

Is she a keeper?
Whats wrong with the ones you have on, they seemed fine to me, so why do you want to swap them out for any way for standard set up again?.

Give me a call and we'll have a chat.
