Vacuum or pressure brake bleeder?

Postby jools182 » Tue May 26, 2015 10:13 am

I used to use a gunson pressure bleeder on my other cars with good results

Unfortunately it doesn't fit the brake reservoir on the mx5

Has anyone used a pressure or vacuum bleeder?

Recommendations?

The 2 person method is a no go

cheers

Use speed bleeders or motorbike bleeder tube.
Why a no go for 2?

Another option would be to adapt your existing bleed kit with a brake cap from a scrappy or mx5parts and a bit of tube.

I tried a sealey vacuum one today

Still holding judgement on it

The gunson used to work great on my other cars, this vacuum one takes ages

I think it sucks air through the thread on the bleed nipple

Those speed bleeders look good, can you use them to bleed the clutch also, and are M8 X 1.0 threaded ones available in the UK?

Looks like you need to pay the $7.95 shipping from the states as it appears everyone in the UK stock the 1.25mm pitch nipple.

Unless Wayne knows better.

I use vacuum bleeder but on rear brakes with the car on the 2 post lift, the wheels are hanging down which tends to close off the rear proportionig valve so that takes some time to do
