NA Coolant Question

Postby joeclarkey » Mon Sep 07, 2015 5:58 pm

Apologies if this has been asked and answered but I have looked in multiple places for an answer and can’t find a definitive one. I have had to drain flush and will be refilling the coolant on my 1989 Eunos roadster due to a failed T pipe on the thermostat housing.

I want to know what coolant to buy, there are many many suggestions all over the net but I can’t find any hard and fast answer to which is best.

I a tempted to upgrade it to FL-22 according to Mazda documentation it can be used in their older cars, has anyone used it in a mk1?

see page 3 here

If not and the recommendation is not to use it could someone please send me a link to the best coolant that meets all of the requirements of the NA engine.

Help much appreciated long time user of the site but first time poster.

Concentrated Mobil Antifreeze does the job perfectly well.
I think it's listed on MX5 Parts but your local motor factor may have it cheaper.

Mazda's own is good, but dear ,i personally use unipart or texeco, remember it is not just about a coolant and antifreeze it is also about a anti rust also.
Water system holds 4.5 Ltrs so for a 50/50 mix you will need 2.1/4 Ltrs of concentrate , also remember to much is just as bad as not enough with the mix.
