Hi,

I can't really justify the cost of the K & N Typhoon induction kit for my mk2.5 sport, but just in case I can get a used one for right money, what is the best set up for hillclimb and sprint?

I come from a bike background and when you put individual K & N filters you had to re jet it and it robbed your midrange, so would you have to have the fuel injection modded or does it auto compensate



One other option is a K & N panel filter in the standard airbox

I didn't do hill climbs or any kind of motor sport in our now departed 2003 Mk2.5 SV-T but we did have a K&N typhoon filter fitted, the car ran as normal without any adjustments but there was no real power gain (only a few more horses as most on here will tell you) but it sounded bloody good.

I only removed it as we decided to stupidly sell the car, something that I still regret doing. The Filter was snapped up by Mr Mender himself, not sure if he still has it in the bat cave.

Our current mk1 has a K&N panel filter fitted, you don't hear the induction noise but the long term benefit is not having to replace the standard filter.

Fitting an "induction kit" after market air filter on it's own will not do much...but give you a nicer noise to listen to ...
If you want to fit one then there is no need to over pay for a TP kit...which is really just different coloured tube with a aftermarket filter on the end...i'll get you a link for one off the bay of e which will do what you need a hell of a lot cheaper...
