I know the guide and will contact Andrew, as we removed it from off here, as it is far easier and safer to crack the drop links, the bolts that hold the anti roll bar bush brackets are getting on more so with the rears that are open to everything, the fronts bolt down to a captive nut in the front rails, so if any of these snap which i have seen a lot, you will have a lot of work on your hands drilling out and re-tapping,which for the home fettler on a drive thats playing can be out of their comfort zone, where as the drop link bolt and nut is easier to get to and if you need to cut it off, you just need to re-place the nut and bolt.

Hi Wayne, I understand they are std Mk2 springs, bought from Pincherrn sometime ago.

Can someone take look at pictures 415 & 416 above and tell me if the springs are fitted the correct way round, is there a wrong way to fit them??

Thanks

Comparing my ride height to a normal Mk1 ride height, it seems that fitting the MK2 suspension has raised the rear end by about 2-3 inches. Is it a just a case of chopping of some of the spring to drop the rear or is there more to consider ?
I guess the next question would be how do I know much to chop off ? Any help ?

Only just seen this. I was told when I bought them that they were standard Mk2 shocks and springs. I never saw the car they came off. They did look like standard springs. I never ever used them on a car either Exocet or S Special.

The springs are the issue, they are not OE springs, the tension rate on them must be high so making her sit high.

Hi Wayne, Pincherrn believes they are std springs and I bought them from him. Have you seen something different.
When I put the MK1 and MK2 units side by side they were the same length. I have been doing a bit of checking and the ride height looks the same as some others that have been converted. I will have a go at jacking up the car putting it on stands and then taking wheels off, loosening bolts jack up empty suspension and tighten under load as recommended. I did try opening and closing the bolts whilst the car was on ramps.

BTW the car feels a lot smother on the road if perhaps a bit twitchy, I have not yet had the alignment re-done, trying to resolve ride height first.

ps many thanks for the help.
