Tech advice...... stop pressing the button :teasing-neener:
Just for everyone else, the A/C button runs through the ECU so without going deep and chopping wires and into the ECU the revs will always climb when pressing the A/C button.
Remove the Jap heater control knob and A/C button and replace with a UK spec heater control knob only, that way it cannot be pressed.
There are a number of things you can do to disable the AC pump, easiest is to just pull the single cloth wire plug on the pasenger side near the P/S bottle, the relay as above, and you can disable the fan by removing the fuse above, personally if the A/C is not being used i would loop/join the A/C fan into the main cooling fan for better cooling.

Yes I was thinking about looping the AC fan into standard fan circuit to give me some additional cooling, should I need it. Either that or simply removing the fan to save some weight :confusion-confused:

When I bought the car, I was told that the front facia for the stereo was missing - no biggie as I had planned to remove any stereo in the name of weight loss!

However, today I thought about it and decided that the ability to play some tunes from my iPod might actually be a good idea, so decided to see what lay behind the central panel.

In a word, spaghetti...!!!

The small plug is for the MSSS head unit, so you can forget the one, the next one with four wires in is the head rest speakers, the other main one that as been chopped, i should be able to help with as aftermarket plugit should have standard colours ? red ,yellow, orange, blue, black, and then four for the front speakers?

Ok so have now sorted out stereo courtesy of s/h front panel for Sony unit and then some decent nearly new Clarion speakers out of my old 964. We have tunes!

More importantly, have finally got 4 wheel alignment done this morning, so can play out!!

Also bolted on the front chassis brace wot my Dad made up.

Car now feels so much stiffer and more of a piece than before and changes direction like a housefly on acid!

Happy days!

Ok so went for a bit of a hoon last night before the weather closed in and at one point noticed, what seemed to be some clutch slip in 2nd & 3rd whilst booting it from a junction!

I've got the can of petrol, just pass me the matches...

Ok so probably time for an update on progress!

Following the new clutch I bedded it in carefully by attending a trackday at Oulton Park which was VERY slippery in the morning and slightly less slippery in the afternoon!

Car performed faultlessly bar discovering that the vibration I could feel was due to 2 of the EBay special BBS RZ rims were somewhat less than completely round!!

Since then I have fitted some Eibach lowering springs which incurred considerable swearing due to rusty/seized suspension bolts but finally everything was cleaned and greased and back together!

Final piece of the jigsaw for now has been fitting some HEL braided brake hoses, a couple of new hard lines (rusty ends!) and tomorrow some ATE Super blue fluid.

Soon be back on the road now...

Ok so today I've finished bleeding the brakes with one of those 1-man bleeding kits from Halfrauds, using fresh ATE SuperBlue fluid. Brief test drive indicates nice firm pedal and strong brakes - result! Next Saturday morning off to Nigel Langs in Bolton to have geo tweaked to suit lower ride height
