Well she is nearly back together again, going in and out as rain stopped and started, but the weather beat me in the end, so spent most of the day licking windows eeffing weather....
Waiting on a dry day to complete....fit new bonnet release cable, hoover, clean, wash and polish and "on the road again"
New new OE gear knob added also which was a bargain find.

Well the confusion continues....the coil pack that I got out of my diagnostic tester box that I swapped out onto her that carried on the same issue, that I assumed was good but not after using the packs off of Andrews S-spec here that got her fired , I just out of curiosity fitted my "blown tester" packs to Andrews and she fired on the button and runs no issues , so my tester packs are good ?...
I am at a loss, but mine runs , confused. Com

-8 and -9 last week here with highs of +2, it was 14 yesterday and woke up to +9 this morning at 4.30am....
Yeah problem seems to be solved , but i am deeply puzzled why the tester coil pack gave me the same issue as the "blown one"? to start the major search for the fault to put it on another and work?

Well while sat comfy enjoying the xmas and new year nul to relax zone, i checked my MOT on the old girl simply because of the lack of use she as had this year with it all and realized her MOT finishes on the 4th of Jan, "fudge" so lucky for me i have a good relationship with Tony our MOT man and contacted him to see what or if it could be done at short notice at a crap time of year while we are all off getting fat and enjoying it.
He came back with the 3rd , first day back for him and me to , so dropped her off, noticed a few things on her first trip out at last and informed Tony of them as it was a first trip out and the weather in between the festive period was shocking ,only two dry days , one at the start (putting her back together) and the last day ( sealing up mega shed) which he sorted for MOT Handbrake was working and balanced but was traveling past 9 clicks and the wiper blades needed changing ( new set in the passenger footwell) so green light, clear ticket, nothing he had notice to be mindful of except for " when did she become a manual" and "there as been a lot of work been going on"
:confusion-confused:

Full service done on the brakes ,strip down ,cleaned ,lubed, adjusted and bled, i felt that only the rear pads needed swapping for new, fronts are still good.

Also had a start on trying to either stop or rejoice the condensation that these roadsters suffer from as a trait, making up templates was fun for the installation...

We had a healthy frost last night in the glen of Wiganshire , so on arriving at work i checked the boot , very minimum condensation on the metal frame ,but will monitor what it stops if anything for everyone.

Well I have since cut and fitted some to all the MK1's here and there is a massive marked improvement, so I will be making up some templates for the MK2's we have and installing it on them also, I will find a way of getting all the templates onto here for other's to use also as they are not A4 size, good old Mr gleneagles John will know I am sure ;0).

This is the insulation product I used from insulating the metal storage buildings that are being built , but I guess any insulation brand will do?

Re: Mazda-menders roadsters ,01,02,04

Postby Mazda Mender » Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:23 am

Mrs black blur 1 as developed a fault? on leaving work on Tuesday night i went through my normal routine of cutting a new door way to get out and home, put the key in the ignition, on final turn to fire she did for a second and then nothing? so I thought it was me, so removed the key , everything lights up but no final fire?, so start with the normal ,wiggling the key in the ignition, checking the plug to the ignition, jiggle wires, checked the wires were still on at the starter solenoid etc, check all fuses, rocked the roadster, nothing with the limited gear i had , so i sat waiting for my lad to come down( thank you Daryl) and with a quick bump start she was running, which kind of ruled out the starter.
She ran as normal all the way up the M6 to the Glen of Wiganshire, parked her up and turned her off and tried her again, nothing , which was fine as i was off on the Wednesday to search a bit deeper.
Started Wednesday early with the continuation of building the storage units and starting to organize whats going where, whats staying ,whats going, Get ready for a major sale of items) then on to her looking sad on the drive , any way in the mean time i did order a MK 2 starter motor from Autolinkmx5 and is on the way, but is it the the starter at fault? remember she was crap on the ignition wiring from the Auto spark, so as one of my joints failed?, is the neutral switch wired in at fault? because in the Auto, you cannot start in park or in gear, and what i noticed after converting is if in gear everything lights up but no fire on last turn of the key unless in neutral
So this is similar to that??.
Any way i dug at the remote starter button and connected up to start to the solenoid . started on the button, ran sweet as a nut, so i can rule out the starter, so its either a connection/wire or neutral switch which i will search out at the weekend, in the mean time I can start her by way of the remote starter button in the engine by for the next two days , not the best , but gets me from A to B without bothering others until i find the fault, roll on weekend , just hope its an easy find as i need to crack on getting organized and straight , as we have been at this since October in all the cold, rain snow, frost, ice, weather as been at nightmare which i had to expect at this time of year, but we were late starting all this from being let down last year in so many ways, so a very very busy year for us here, I must say a big Massive thank you to Chris Holden who went out of his way to help on building one of them which was the week its snowed ,rained and everything that could be thrown at us, last one was finished on Sunday just gone, Garage next, roll on summer.

Just an update on the ignition fire or lack of it, it turned out to be that it was the female spade end connection and the male on the starter solenoid was losing contact due to tarnishing from 30 years of use , and that was it all good again weeks ago...sorry I did not up date sooner.
