If you are joining us on this thread, the story starts here - warning though! That link contains lots of swearing and gory pics of a badly injured roadster.

However first things first *ahem*

MEGA KUDOS to Chris (aka MazdaMender Jnr)

The pictures you see above, Wayne was beyond ridiculously busy that weekend. But Chris stepped up to the plate and as you can see did I fine job. Efforts very much appreciated.

Now, all the bent bits were removed and replaced with non bent bits supplied by John aka Junk Yard Dog (not on here, but can be found on mx5Nutz). The next task was to get her fit for MOT testing pronto. So the next task was to replace the broken lights cluster.

Pretty easy job getting the old one out, just undo one scew holding at the top, then hidden behind the trim in the boot are two nuts. Pop it out and you get this:
DSC_0361.jpg
DSC_0361.jpg (226.28 KiB) Viewed 5699 times

Swapped the bulbs with new ones, then popped the new cluster back on, done up the nuts and screwed on the last screw at the top and hey presto.
DSC_0366.jpg

Here are some closer day light photos of the damage.

Now as well as the obvious dent, you may notice the wheel isnt straight. Thats because without specialist alignment equipment it would have been impossible for Chris to ensure that wheel was aligned -so could only make do with a best guess. As you can probably imagine, the handling is not much fun, especially when going over 70mph.

So the next stage on the recovery road is to give this plucky red 'un a full wheel alignment down at the folks at HW Moon Toyota in Wigan.

Mick the resident Toyota (MX5) technician gave it a good go, managed to correct all the wheels. But the rear passenger corner which has suffered so much, although he could greatly improve it, as you can see the results below couldnt quite reach the optimum settings. This means there is still something bent somewhere. Small set back but nothing that cant be over come.

So she is handling much much better, but still need to have the wheel turned a smidgen to the right in order to keep her straight. But hey, onwards and upwards!

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode: Picking Up the replacement wing and bumper bits from Junk Yard Dog and hopefully making a start on repairing the body work.

Could he get any idea from the settings where the bent part might be?

The Subframe must be damaged, not something you can visually see either.

Yes forgot to mention the sticking caliper. Temporarily fixed, but new front calipers (and pads) arrived yesterday.

Heres a full view of the skirt and a close up of the slightly out of line exhaust.

Hehe, yeh I suspected thats all that was needed, but dont forget, you wont be hammering the exhaust pictured, it will be the dual exhaust in your garage ;) Not sure whats the best way to extend each pipe so that its flush.

Im starting to really like the skirt. I was a bit nervous when I dropped off the car to Ste. The trouble was, it seems this particular lip is pretty darn rare. I struggled to find any photos of it, so it was very hard to gauge how good would it look. The only thing I could find was this Aussie example:
Image

Note how the middle bit has been cut out to show off his bracing.

But yeh, next mission for Ste is blending in the duck tail and oem front air dam :handgestures-thumbup:
