This is caused by not fully cured paint and water and frost we have had this before with a lacquer and putting a heat lamp will get rid of it but not permanent, only solution is to rub it back down re coat it and seal it with lacquer, let it dry fully in a warm environment and it should be ok

As for the condensation - you have a water leak letting in water somewhere. Have you checked the hood drain tubes and sill drains?

yes lazza, when i changed the hood i fitted new drains, there clear so are the sill holes i poked them out when i was painting the underside,
i think mainly the car has been off the road for 6 weeks, the inside of the windscreen was running, i never noticed any leaks when i was using it.
obviously with the winter coming on the air is damp and if the sun shines in the morning i think the air inside heats then condenses.

An MX5 shouldn't suffer from damp any worse than any other car. If it is then there is water getting in somewhere. Have you checked the boot? Rear light seals & Frankenstein bolt seals are common failure spots too.

Although you will never make these roadsters air tight,It should not be anywhere near that bad inside, you need to check around because something is wrong.

Have you checked for damp under the carpets (no good checking on top), in the footwells and being the seats and also in the boot, again under the carpet. Finding the wettest place is a clue to how the damp is getting in.

first time this has happened in the rain, but i finished night shift this morning, jumped in and wet bum driving home.
raining now so been out with the torch and its dripping from the top of the quarter window seal and running down and sitting in the bucket of the seat.
i guess i will have to change the seal. is it easy to do?
the drip is circled red.

If it's split on the outside you can fix with a little super glue. Also make sure your window is not going up to much. The water collects in that top section & drains through the rubber down to the bottom

You can also run a trombone brush down that channel, feed in from collector at top, gently push through and it pops out at bottom front edge of door. Perhaps that tube is blocked so causing water to overflow the collector. Amazing what uses those brushes come in for !
