:handgestures-thumbup: , mx5 parts may have sent you the wrong size by the sound of it, because once their on ..they are on.

hi , long time no post but I am always reading the forum. well after a year I finally retired and moved to Scotland. eventually got round to mot for the old eunos, passed first time, still looks a dog but comfy and great to drive.
just done the cam belt and water pump and fan belt and power steering belt. I am losing power steering fluid due to a corroded pipe, so I am looking for a replacement one, otherwise shes going great.
Now I am retired hoping to get her in a bit better shape.

Thankyou MM.

re the power steering leak, I got the undertray off with only 3 snapped bolts, and managed to get the offending pipes out. As luck would have it I am a hoarder and had some hydraulic hose to hand rescued from when I was at work, this hose stands much more pressure than a car power steering. so I aim to just run it from the header tank to the pipe under the car. ill not bother with the cooling bit in front off the rad as I don't think it needs it, on research some mx5`s don't have the cooling bit fitted and as I do only small miles it`ll be fine. hopefully fit it this afternoon.

Thanks again MM, but I used the high pressure pipe that I had. fitted it and filled the reservoir turned the wheel lock to lock a few times , checked level and topped up. ok
Changed oil and filter, and greased up the caliper pins. Funny car mechanically brill, and underneath is sound but scabby body. don't think its worth spending big bucks on it so ill just keep driving it.

You might well be right gents, ive just done a small repair to the offside front chassis rail, and small repairs to each side of the rear sills, but inside the sill is still like new, I have one of those wee cameras to look in. it needs a nearside front wing which I have, and if I remove the nosecone a couple of weld repairs in there, otherwise sound for a 27 year old car. I`ll just keep working on it.
Sorry I never took pics today.

This week, I removed the front bumper and both wings, one wing needs a repair which I will try and do. I have another good wing but ill try and save the one I have.
The front bumper panels behind were rotten. so I chopped out , and made up new ones and welded in. Even welded in new captive nuts where needed.

hi, well as it turned out both wings needed repairing, I made up small repair pieces and chopped out the rot and welded in the new. I refitted the wings, and skimmed with filler and rubbed down on the car, I will remove them and paint with rattle cans as its all I have. then refit and put the bmper back on.

More sanding down today, and snapped bolts along the front where the nose cone fits drilled out and re tapped. I have a better replacement bumper which needed minor repair so ive done that and primed it.
so far net spend is ÂŁ3.99 for some screen sealer where I had to pull the rubber back for a minor rust repair. I already had the timing belt, water pump etc. hopefully wings will be finished tomorrow ready to paint red.
