hi, i started cutting today, i cut out rotten areas of the sill /inner sill bottom piece, and the rear sill inner parts, i am making repair panels up as i go along, then i will know where they fit and how to reconstruct the rear sill properly.
i am working the next 4 days so that will be it till next week(weather permitting)
some pics.
flying mx5
front fender rot cut out
bumper off
rear sill
bottom of rear arch looks ok but wasnt
inner sill from rear wheel
sill front i will make a repair panel for this before cutting out
inner sill condition, you can see from this pic that its only the bottom piece thats gone its nice shiny metal in there so water must have been sloshing about inside.

managed to get another day at it, the pics shows the wing being cut and the new one fitted, the inner wheel arch was better than i thought and just needed the lip cutting out and a new piece welded in and one bit on the inner arch itself.
needs more grinding and a skim off filler, but that will get done when i get ready for paint.

A lot of people would have been put off by the job at hand, but not a mender with half a mind to save another MX from the scrapheap.

Good work, keep it up as one day I might need to do the same and will need all the encouragement I can get.

thanks for that, i am not in it for the cash, when finished i will enjoy it knowing i `ve done this.
if you tote up the cost you would probably be spending more than its worth, but for me its not about that. its basically a really good car that needs to be saved.
pleased i got it , these are rare now as they only did 300 mk1s.
if you are ever going to do it, invest in the best welding machine you can afford, it will pay you back 10 fold.
