So this week i have done:
Pulled seats out
Spend 8 hours cleaning carpets
Treated rust on the shelf, floorplate and hood rails. And painted all.
Detangoed indicators.
Removed stickers.
Repaired the rain rail.
Got a new window installed in the hood.
Cleaned the enginebay 4 times and finally found the engine :-)
Did a oilshift, filters chemical internal engine cleaning, and added Bardahls Worn engine treatment.
(Engine runs much more quiet now)
Flushed the coolant and rinsed with some very effective cleaner, the Brown gunk in the Black bucket is from the 4th rinse.
Sanded and painted gear knob.
Took out all insulation under carpets and thrashed it, it was wet and very bad smelling.
Ordered Some parts from autolink, il motorsport ,liquid leather and more.
Added some cheap golden hub caps.

Polished and sealed indicators and rear lights.
rinsed entire car with clay bar. MOP and color waxed
Rinsed and sealed the hood.
Added extra soundproofing in the entire cabin.
fitted new undercarpets
Took the zipout window to an upholsterer and got a new vinyl window, terrible job getting it back in
rebuilded the gearshift

Todays progress:
cleaned out fuel filler, lots of gunk in there
finished glueing carpets in.
installed carpets and trim bits.
added a new gear shift gaiter from IL motorsports and some bling bits from Jass, very nice quality :handgestures-thumbup:
Finally got the handbrake handle of, my face color changed to deep purple during the operation
started on the drivers seat, i got a bottom seat cover from Andrew at autolink. its from a later model so might have to be modified a bit.
hopefully i will get my dye and refurbish kit from liqudleather soon. they have some trouble with transportation of hazardous goods at the moment.
I havent put my radio back in, i think i might need some more bling from Jass first.
so sad its weekend. now the family prevents my from getting things done to the mx5

The airbag alarm was driving me nuts, along with the seatbelt, handbrake, open door, key-in ding dong buzzer only in America p.o.s reminders :snooty:
So i disconnected the wiring and ordered a second hand airbag module from Holland and installed it. Hooray, a new fault code.
Both modules on the kitchen table, electrolyttes were bleeding and main fuse blown. new module on the way, free of charge.
if it works thats lovely, otherwise its travelling along the 2 old units to my friend the electro-engineer :handgestures-thumbup:

and the door cards ( no pics yet)
and here the fun really kicks in, ordered new to me locks for drivers side and trunk, turned out to be the mechanism behind the barrel that was badly corroded, ordered trunk upgrade kit with cable to the center console.
now i was at it, the power windows were dead in drivers side and on the way to the undertaker in passenger side.
P.O assured me it was just a matter of clean and lube, yeah right!!! drivers side window was held up with 8! zip-ties, motor was corroded beyond repair and the bowden cables were broken :teasing-knob:
sourced a second hand set in Germany, now they go slow but they do go. cleaned out all channels and lubed it all up. now waiting for teflon rollers and an answer from Honda about the shin etsu wonder grease.

Mending day

Postby Brgdane » Sat Feb 13, 2016 11:22 pm

Believe it or not, sun was shining all day. So a great opportunity to get some greasy hands :handgestures-thumbup:
Boot/trunk cleaned, panels painted, soundproofing installed. "custom" battery retainer installed, it was a new battery put in by PO. had to had to use the dremmel and a lot of fettling before i could secure it. it was banging around in the trunk, not very safe :snooty:
Cleaned the last carpets and inserts with the pressurewasher, now my car is officially mildew free and smelling fresh again.
Todays quest was to install a cubby box from Jass Performance. the clocks i had was to big. 52mm, but the bezels are wider than standard vdo types.
put them in and then they were completely stuck. Tried for an hour to get them out again, ended up taking a hammer and chissel to one of them
then it was Dremmel time again ,i found there was a very slight chip in the instrument surrounds. So when i tried to screw them out, i effectively carved a groove into the plastic housing.
finished of by painting the centre console, and giving the black portion of the dash several layers of black vinyl dye. It might need a few more layers, but the vinyl hood looks like new after just one treatment. Oh and the handbrake handle is back in place after a lick of laquer.
Next on is the reasembly of the doors, and installation of the new 4-2-1 stainless header and new catalyst.
