Found her sat hidden out of site ..unloved and going furry...now having a soft spot fot the VS mk1's and 2's...as i walked around with Carl and notice her in the corner..as we got close i am sure i heard..."help me"....."take me home"....so after a quick look over her and banter was thrown between me and Carl...we arrange another run up to have a better look etc...so two weeks ago myself and Daryl had a run up to carls camp ,started her up which was on the button ,she had not been turned over for 12 months...and no tell tail blue smoke of stem seal wear which can be a trait of the Mk2 1.8cc...she is far from perfect and there is work to be done on the mechanical side and body work ...but there would be no need for me to have her if there was nothing to get my teeth into...so a deal was struck inbetween yet more healthy banter...bumped into Andrew and Matt while we were there collecting Andrews terminal mk2.5 :0 (...after a conversation with them both they followed us home to view the B2 i have been fettling ,to which Andrew will be the new owner once she is finished...
Well she arrived friday night which Carl was good enough to bring down and take the B2 off for paint...
And so the build thread begins.....

Going to be watching this thread with interest in the final outcome, been thinking of adding another mx to the fleet for a while now.

Sun visors swapped out for the Mk 1 import folding type, upper and lower gear shaft boots changed and gear shaft(Old one was bent) Windscreen scuttle trim changed and wiper links to a MK 1 set, new wiper arms fitted,Gear knob re set, heater panel and gear shaft trim changed, air vents changed, instrument trim changed, heater panel changed, B post top caps changed, gear shift gaiter changed,, centre arm rest cleaned and sorted.....

Changed the rear light clusters for some part LED units that are smoked, ( yes i know the fog is on the wrong side coming back to that at a later date)....

I will be taking everything to bits as i go...

New windscreen scuttle trim added without screw caps for the minute as i want to still remove it all for a deep clean at the same time as the engine bay and the MK 1 link arms are in place now also, but still loose as i want to paint it...

Newer gear knob fitted and handbrake lever,reversing LED bar light and rear fog light fitted, bonnet hydraulic struts fitted with thanks to Number 1 son,Badges removed to add new ones and found that the nose cone is not the original that came with the roadster and as been butchered at some point by someone removing the nose cone badge before and there are deep marks and a hole where the edge of the badge sat,,, so that sealed the fate of that and will now be converted to a Mk 2.5 front, angel eye light units etc seeing as i would need to do paint anyway so the mazdaspeed chin spoiler and adjustable rear wing will now be fitted also, so a front end strip down will be happening very soon, so the RS front comes off..

Full interior of the boot was stripped out, cleaned and painted etc etc, both doors stripped down and rebuilt for electric windows,locks etc to all work better than new....

Started stripping down the front end and trial fitted the angel lights,nose cone and mazdaspeed lip....

Front rails are good in and out, just surface rust, few areas to make good again where the water traps are from being stood and lack of protection , inner wheel arches, under the light units..so far all the nuts have come away bar two which are the earth block connectors under the lights, but i will be doing a earth relocation on them anyway for future ease....Sub frames, wish bones,unrights etc are full of rust, looks like she as been parked on gravel or grass????, so they will all be binned for fresh including the suspension,brakes( may upgrade to the large brakes??) etc etc, but i need to attack the engine etc first,interior will be swapped out for the lighter MK 2.5 montana , new hood is needed, one rear arch will need attention at some point to make good before injecting the box sections and undersealing,zorst is here, induction kit is here, mazdaspeed adjustable rear wing is here, mazdaspeed skirts on there way, mud guards are here,Hu unit is her, aftermarket temp gauge is here, track dog sender unit is here, plus loads of other bits and lots to do...
Any one that follows my builds will know how deep I go and that the B2 is nearly finished and off to her new owners, I have a red MK 1 1.6 i am building for my little girl and my Black V.S Mk2 to finish, and these will be my last personal builds....
The pictures do make it look far worse than it is 100%, if it was un savable she would of been broken up, i won't waste my time, she will be a lovely thing when finished...

Nose cone spot lamps fitted,Air guide removed and baby teeth all to start the derusting/cutting out good for bad attack....
Panel under the passenger side headlamp had surface rust which was removed ,sanded back, treated,painted and protected,Drivers side was a little worse and needed a section cutting out to solid which a new section needs welding in to make all good again, the rest was made good painted and protected until welding,the earth points are going to be re located ..... the front most valance had minor surface rust which was all made good painted and protected, all is being made good before undersealing and box sections protecting...


Personal overview,,,,she needs a hell of a lot of work, if it was a standard 1.8, i would not bother she would of been broken up...there is a lot to do...everywhere, so this build and thread will be deep as i go through "EVERYTHING" and will attack as my time allows on her , which will be as and when,,,,there is no rush....
