Oil leak ?

Postby GlennyGills » Tue Apr 09, 2013 1:00 pm

Sometime ago I smelt buring oil and replaced the Cam sensor (1.8) and things were better. Now however after replacing a Rocker cover, minor oil leak, it seems as if there is another problem. There is wet patch behind the crank pulley. Is there such a thing as "Radweld" for oil systems, or am I doomed to learn how to extract the engine and replace leaking seals? Crank pulley seal??

Easy enough to replace and solve the problem.

A bit more detail may help? As I understand it, you need to take off the crank pulleys (so, timing belt off?) then cut out the old seal and drift in the new, then back together. I assume you need to drain the oil, but you might get away with a big rag and working quick...

If the timing belt comes off, may as well put on a new one. Anything else whilst in the area? Water pump? Always worried about doing the timing belt, small mistake big consequences.

Is there a write up ?
