Nut Size For Front Upper Ball Joints and Track Rod Ends

Postby sheffj » Sat Aug 15, 2015 3:42 pm

Hi All,

I've just replaced the track rod ends and upper ball joint boots on my 1993 Eunos. I'd already decided to replace the castle nuts on the ball joint studs with Nylocs but despite loads of searching online couldn't find a definitive answer for the thread pitch and spec. The track rod ends came with Grade 8 hign tensile Nylocs which also fit the upper ball joints.

So, if anyone's interested, the nut size for both the track rod ends and upper ball joints is M12 x1.25 pitch (sometimes called M12 Extra Fine pitch). The nuts should be Grade 8 high tensile types for safety purposes.
I found a seller on *bay selling a pack of 5 for £2.70 with free postage.
