Inlet Port casting mark or crack

Postby SR2mx518 » Tue Oct 25, 2016 10:22 am

Hello everyone,
New here and building a Road Runner Racing SR2 using our donor vehicle of a 1995 Eunos 1.8.
The head/engine has not yet been dismantled for refurbishment, but,
I have discovered in the inlet ports on the head there is what looks like a crack but it could be a casting mark. This mark is across the narrow bridge between the 2 inlet valves on all for ports. Hopefully it is a casting mark but it looks too much like a crack.
So can anyone confirm it as a casting mark meaning it will be OK for me to polish the ports and not have to be concerned about that bridge being weak or whatever.
or
if it is a crack, is it repairable by a local machine shop.
When rebuilt it will be fitted with a Jenvey Throttle Body set.
All the pictures I have found on the web seem to have the same marks.
Anybody confirm please

The mark can be seen across the bridge between the two valves.

Looks like a casting mark to me. It matches the casting marks that can clearly be seen on the sides of the port.
