MK1 coolant change

Postby Papa-coatman » Sun Aug 04, 2019 9:26 pm

Evening all.

I’m about to do cambelt change on a MK1 1.6 Eunos and will be doing water pump, rad, hoses etc at the same time.

Wondering what’s the best/correct coolant to use? The current stuff in it is a bright green and I’m led to believe is probably Mazda Super Coolant. Can’t find anywhere that sells it though and assuming will be expensive from a dealer?

Apologies as this has probably been asked before but can’t seem to find an answer.

It is dealership coolant and is not as dear as you think....but..hellfrauds 5 year is good and Texaco's also...just make sure you flush all the old stuff out regardless of going with mazda coolant or the others before adding any of them.

Thanks Wayne, was going to do a flush as well so should be fine.

Is it the Halfords OAT stuff you mean? Or what Texaco stuff?

Cheers.

Texaco 2 year or 5 year...easier to nip into Hellfrauds for their 5 year...get some concertrate to water down .

Got the Mazda stuff from the dealer in the end as surprisingly it was cheaper than Halfords own!
