Rattling caliper/pads.

Postby blackyb » Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:42 pm

So, fellow Menders here we go.

I have a rattling caliper on the front nearside,.

The caliper itself is in good nick, not seized and moves freely. I have the correct lift off springs fitted (Wayne can confirm that as he serviced the brakes for me) but on certain road conditions she rattles, if I apply a bit of left foot braking, the rattle goes. So it's the pads rattling I suspect but they are virtually new, only done about 700 miles.

So, any ideas how to cure it. New slider pins, maybe a fresh hanger.

It's just annoying as it's the only noise you can hear other than the birds singing and a burble from the exhaust when the tops down.

Due to go to Scotland in her in a few weeks, would be nice to be rattle free.

Remove the antirattle springs, stretch them out to put more tension on them and re fit, that should cure it bud.

All very quite on here in recent weeks, so either everyone's too busy mending or not mending at all which I very much doubt.

So a little update, as Mm said lift off springs given a tweak and the rattle has all but gone so great advice from Mm.

Just back from a thousand mile four day trek in Scotland, in the Eunos, mainly top down. Working out the mpg shes's done just shy of 38mpg but super E5 up North was 10p a ltr more than down here but hey what a trip and well worth it.

I will post up my woes in a minute, but great that it sorted it , only quite with posting pics up as we have building work going on here so the cars are all on hold, had a couple of owners around to sort a few easy fettles, as there is no space at the inn at the minute.
I am still fettling with the build threads in the back ground as you should know, but is a work shop area to write them and not open to public viewing until finished ans released to be used.

I knew your would still be fettling and fixing while surrounded by a building site. It's just that the forum has never been this quite so I was starting to think the worse.
