Misfire cured svt-s mk2.5

Postby Nobby248 » Sat Dec 20, 2014 5:42 pm

The story...

Misfire developed when engine reached normal temperature
Check engine light flashing
Stop car switch off ignition
Check under bonnet for obvious items like loose leads etc
Re-start the engine check engine light now on constantly [not flashing]
No misfire
Drive home and attach OBD diagnostic
Code checked indicated misfire between cylinders
Clear fault code from log
The car repeated this behaviour again after a week same code etc...then fault happened daily...

Actions taken...

Order new magnacore HT leads
Order replacement coil packs (after market)
Order new plugs NGK BR6

Fitting...

Replace the old items
Clean all contacts with switch cleaner
Start car and test, one week trouble free
Fault cured

Well done that man.

Just wish that the fault on my now departed SVT-s 2.5 had been as simple to fix, dammed EGR valve cost me a whole lot more trouble than I expected it to, like replacement EGR valve, multi connector, ECU and associated components.

Still wish I hadn't sold her on as I do miss driving the old girl with a big grin on my face at the sound of the K&N sucking and the stainless 4" outlet blowing.

Absolutely mate, couldn't agree more.

As much as I loved the sport the little Eunos is just the ticket as she is, but maybe a K&N cone filter will find its way under the bonnet next year!!!
