Hi guys,
I'm doing some routine/tidy-up jobs and became aware that one of the frankenstein bolts for hardtop fixing is not tight. In fact I tried to remove it and it just spins and catches no thread. Seems to indicate the thread in the bodywork is suspect.
So, any good suggestions how to extract? I will replace with Jass kit if I can get this out and thread is OK.

It could be that the captive nut as lost its hold, seen this many times from owners trying to remove them as they are put in place with a thread lock compound and it as fused which the weakest point gave way, it might not be , but sounds like it, the good news is that you can get the the captive nut to hold it to check and if need be hold it solid with a ring spanner, fiddly but doable .
It could also be that they have not gone in straight and killed the tread? so you would need to put force under the bolt and turn out to re tap the thread,

Is access via the boot to the captives, and will our 1991 Eunos have a captive in place as at some point we might be looking at a hard top for ours.

Thanks Wayne, Useful info. 
My first thoughts were that the thread had stripped and if I could get the frank bolt out I would need a thread insert.
As blackyb is the captive viewable/ accessible from the boot space. I haven’t had time to check, but will once I can get to the car.
