Replacing a corroded PAS pipe

Postby MXFiver » Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:44 am

Hi folk,
My 1.8 NB recently went through it's MOT (yaay) with advisories for corrosion, one of which is the PAS pipes corroded to excess.

I expect that I'll replace them this year so would appreciate all tips and pointers to help me along the way.

First question is how would I go about draining the system? I haven't looked yet but is there a bleed nipple on the rack?

Secondly, once I've replaced the pipes, what's the best procedure for filling and bleeding the system.

Apologies if this is easy, standard stuff for many of you. It's the first time I've done this job.

Cheers and thanks in advance for your help.

There really is no easy way to empty the system, which ever way you go ,it is going to get messy.
I use a fluid sucker and try and draw out as much as possible, then it is a plastic sheet, large tray and plenty of rags...
With drawing fluid out it does make the task easier.
Once on and refilling...it's an easy process to bleed off, she will be on axle stands any way at the front, so fill the system, start her up and just turn from lock to lock and good number of times, this will expel the air , you may need to top up and possibly mob up from air look being pushed out so leave rags all around the fill bottle just incas it happens.
